The Mahidol University International College (MUIC) campus buzzed with energy from January 12 to 15, 2026, as the Sophomore Class Committee hosted the first week of “Rubnong,” the traditional orientation for new students. Held across MUIC Building 1 and Aditayathorn Building, the event successfully welcomed freshmen and fostered a strong sense of community.
The week gave senior students, known as “P’Groups,” the chance to lead and mentor the incoming freshmen, or “N’Groups.” Through a dynamic mix of team-building games, icebreakers, dance sessions, and group singing, the orientation was designed to create a fun, welcoming atmosphere for the newcomers.
Beyond the activities, organizers noted that the event aligns with the principles of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by providing a holistic learning experience that extends beyond the classroom and strengthens community bonds.
In total, 390 students participated in the week’s events. The orientation proved to be a resounding success, allowing freshmen to build new friendships and feel at home in the MUIC community. For the sophomore mentors, it was a valuable opportunity to develop their confidence and hone their leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, setting a positive tone for the trimester ahead.
