Major in Finance

The Finance Major is a rigorous program which will equip you with a solid financial foundation and essential quantitative skills for Finance. The distinctive feature of the Finance Major is its strong emphasis on corporate finance and financial investment, as well as emerging tools of financial technology; improvements in corporate governance; and financial strategies in emerging economies. The curriculum furnishes Finance Majors with the necessary knowledge in microeconomics; macroeconomics; data analytics; accounting; financial analysis; risk management; banking operations; and corporate governance.

The courses are further tailored to provide students with practical computational skills; and an in-depth understanding of the application of financial theory in a world of disruptive innovation, further advanced through internships and research.

CFA Ethics Graduation Requirement

As part of the CFA affiliation, MUIC’s students majoring in Finance with the ID 62 onward are required to demonstrate their knowledge of ethics in the investment profession by completing all programs administered online by the CFA Institute Ethics Learning Lab.

Upon completion, the students will receive a certificate from the CFA Institute as recognition of their achievement.

Students can follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the CFA Institute Ethics Learning Lab. https://www.cfainstitute.org/en/events/professional-learning/learning-lab

  2. Create a CFA Institute account using your university email address.

  3. After your account is created, you will be redirected back to the Ethics Learning Lab.

  4. On the Welcome page, watch the video for a brief overview of how the platform works, then click ‘Continue.’

  5. Explore the available programs and complete all six programs, including:

    • GVV for Investment Professionals

    • Ethical Decision Making

    • Professionalism

    • Transparency and Disclosure

    • Trading and Analysis

    • Interactions with Clients.

  6. Upon 100% completion of all programs, the certificates are loaded to your profile in the Learning Lab. Please follow the link below to access instructions on how to view them.

  7. Download all six certificates and combine them into one PDF file.  Send the file to the BA Division at email: icbba@mahidol.ac.th. Please name your file in this format:  Student ID_Ethicscert.

Please be aware that these certificates are required for applying to the BBA Internship Off-campus program (ICMB497 Practical Business Training – Off-Campus).

CFA Exam Level I Scholarship

MUIC, as an affiliated academic institution, signals to their students and to employers that their Finance Curriculum is closely tied to the practice of investment management and is helpful to students preparing for the CFA® Program exams. To celebrate the achievement, CFA Institute grants 3 scholarships per year to current MUIC students who possess a strong will to take the CFA Level I Exam, as the first step to become a CFA charter holder.
