What's the difference between an exchange and a visiting student?
  • Exchange Student: From a partner university with an official MOU; tuition-waived at MUIC.
  • Visiting Student: From a non-partner university; tuition fees apply.
  • Exchange students: Must be officially nominated by their home university.
  • Visiting students: Apply directly via the Inbound Application Portal

What documents are needed for my application?

Requirements:

For Visiting Students:
1. Copy of Passport: Must be valid for at least 6 months after completion of study at MUIC.
2. Official Transcript: Must include the university seal and be verified as true copies by your home university.
3. A Certificate of English Proficiency is required only if you are not a native English speaker.
4. Proof of Enrollment issued by your home university.
5. Reference Letter Issued by your home university.
6. Proof of International Health Insurance
  • Must be in English.
  • The insurance company must have a branch office in Thailand.

1. Application Fee USD 55 non-refundable.
2. Student ID Photo
  • JPEG format
  • Size: 1200 x 1400 pixels
  • Background: Plain blue or white
  • Shirt: Plain white with a collar, no suit, tie, or blouse

1. Submission
  • All documents must be uploaded as PDF files (except the photo) to the MUIC enrollment system.


For Exchange Students:

2. Official Transcript: Must include the university seal and be verified as true copies by your home university.
3. A Certificate of English Proficiency is required only if not a native English speaker.
4. Nomination Letter Issued by your home university.
5. Proof of International Health Insurance in English, and must have a branch office in Thailand.

  • Background: Plain blue or white
  • Shirt: Plain white with a collar (no suit, tie, or blouse)

Application & Admission Details
Who needs to submit English test scores?
  • Native English speakers: Exempt
  • Non-native speakers: Must submit one of the following:
    • TOEFL iBT with a minimum score of 69 (Writing score 22)
    • IELTS (Academic) overall 6 (Writing 6)
    • PTE (Academic) overall 50
    • Other qualifications showing equivalent English Language proficiency that have previously been accepted (Click here!)

Students can take courses across various fields regardless of their major (subject to prerequisites and availability).

  • Exchange students: 12–16 credits per trimester
  • Visiting students: 12–20 credits per trimester
Yes, during the Add/Drop period at the beginning of each trimester.
As an exchange or visiting student at MUIC, you are allowed to mix and match courses across different majors and academic divisions, as long as:

  • You meet the prerequisites for the course (if any)
  • The course is open to inbound students and not restricted
  • There is no schedule conflict with your other selected courses

Visa & Immigration

No. Since you will be studying at MUIC, you must enter Thailand with a student (ED) visa only.

Airport Pick up & Orientation

You should arrive in Thailand 1–2 days before the orientation. This will give you enough time to adjust, buy your uniform, and finalize your housing arrangements before the trimester begins.
Yes, free airport pickup is provided every trimester for exchange and visiting students. Please visit the academic schedule for more information.
You may travel to campus using:

  • Official airport taxis
  • Grab ride-hailing app (iOS/Android)
No, students must arrange their return transportation.
Yes, all exchange and visiting students must attend the official orientation program.

Housing & Campus Life

No. However, MUIC provides a list of recommended off-campus accommodations near campus.

Estimated Basic Cost of Living in Thailand:

  • Accommodations: 7,000 – 30,000 baht/month
  • Utilities: 2,000 – 4,000 baht/month
  • Food/Meals: 9,000 – 12,000 baht/month
  • Books/Course Materials: 5,000 baht/trimester
  • Local Transportation: 6,000 baht/month

MUIC Counselling Service

The Counselling Service at MUIC provides free, confidential, and non-judgmental support to students facing emotional and psychological difficulties that affect their personal well-being and academic performance. The service is designed to help students manage stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges.
All enrolled students at Mahidol University International College (MUIC) are eligible to access the counselling services.

Academic Regulations

Students must attend at least 80% of each course to be eligible for the final exam.
