2023 Rookie’s Rumble: Shaping Future Leaders of MUIC Case Club

The MUIC Case Club provided interested freshmen and sophomores with a business case competition entitled, “Rookie’s Rumble Case Competition 2023” which was the first opportunity for them to step in and experience the consultancy world.

All participant teams were given the case of Procter and Gamble (P&G) in China, and they were required to do the situational analysis, marketing strategies, and financial implications for two days, and the top-performing teams from each division would then proceed to the finals.

The case competition was hosted by the MUIC Case Club at Aditayathorn Building. This business case competition featured qualifying teams from divisions A to D who showcased their ideas to a panel of judges, providing them with a platform to tackle real-world challenges and acquire valuable hands-on experience. The competition went beyond mere presentations, allowing first and second-year student teams to gain insights into content that had been typically reserved for business case participants.

Throughout the competition, each team practiced a wide range of skills, from reading the case, cracking the case, analyzing it to honing their research abilities. They also focused on enhancing their PowerPoint skills, perfecting slide decorations, sharpening critical thinking, and refining their presentation skills. Overall, each team has derived a multitude of valuable lessons from their experience in the Rookie’s Rumble.

In the end, the winning team emerged: The House. It was followed by No Mayonnaise Please, MUIC Suit Case Club, and Marketing Lab 101, respectively.

The members of the winning team, The House, were:

1. Mr. Laksh Nandkishore Khemlani
2. Mr. Varon Phlaphongphanich
3. Mr. Shovit Dhakal
4. Mr. Nathavuth Gambhir

The club offers its gratitude to the distinguished panel of judges and the Business Administration (BA) Division for making this event not just possible, but truly remarkable.

MUIC Case Club is honored to have the esteemed judges for the divisional and final round of the competition. The divisional judges were Asst. Prof. Dr. Thanarerk Thanakijsombat, Asst. Prof. Dr. Kevalin Setthakorn, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Viriya Taecharungroj, and Dr. Piti Ongmongkolkul. Their expertise was valuable to all teams to gain business acumen. Alongside them were MUIC Case Club top competitors with experience in various business case competitions: Ms. Narinya Yingcharoenthana, Ms. Chelin Park, Ms. Yanisa Sirisomboonchok, and Mr. Dharmawat Jiraniti. Lastly, the final round judges, all with their special expertise in different fields:

1. Asst. Prof. Dr. Malinvisa Sakdiyakorn
2. Dr. Wallapa Suengkamolpisut
3. Ms. Intira Setavoraphan (8th Mandate President of MUIC Case Club)
4. Mr. Enrico James Soetanto (Co-head of Case Team of MUIC Case Club)

This year's Rookie’s Rumble Case Competition has undoubtedly surpassed all expectations and resoundingly achieved its primary goal of providing a platform for young talents to shine and showcase their exceptional competence. The competition not only attracted a diverse and highly talented pool of participants but also fostered an environment of innovation, critical thinking, and teamwork. With challenging real-world business cases as the backdrop, these future leaders demonstrated remarkable problem-solving skills, adaptability, and strategic thinking in the competition.

The impressive performance of freshmen and sophomores in the 2023 Rookie's Rumble Case Competition demonstrates the bright future of the MUIC Case Club and MUIC. These young competitors embody innovation, educational excellence, and problem-solving abilities. They are paving the way for the MUIC Case Club's lasting legacy and MUIC's role in shaping future business leaders. Year by year, it is evident that the MUIC Case Club and its participants are on a path to remarkable achievements and unwavering commitment to excellence.
