Six students from the Communication Design Program attended the “Once Upon a Time Coastline” workshop at Sustainability Expo 2022 by Nat Geo (National Geographic, National Geographic Explorer) at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) in Bangkok on September 20, 2022 featuring representatives from the Emerging Islands, an arts organization from the Philippines.

The students who attended the workshop were:

1. Mr. Possatat Jenthamakhum

2. Ms. Tanasuda Phuangkhiao

3. Ms. Prantawan Yangnok

4. Ms. Siriyakorn Akharapattaranant

5. Ms. Nawakarn Charoen

6. Ms. Tanyatorn Peungtriput

Leading the workshop were practitioners with different art and arts-related backgrounds: Mr. David Loughran, Ms. Nicola Sebastian, and Ms. Samantha Zarandin. With the theme “Once Upon a Time Coastline,” the students learned about Coastline Biodiversity from Dr. Watcharapong Hongjamrassilp of Chulalongkorn University; storytelling from Mr.  Sirichai Arunruktichai, marine conservation expert and underwater photographer; as well as art and illustration from world-renowned Hong Kong artist, Mr. Jonathan Jay Lee.

Students created digital art illustrations to demonstrate various misconceptions and changing situations of coastline biodiversity. With presentations demonstrating successful outcomes, students not only learned and became aware of the effects of coastline biodiversity and sustainable concepts in the knowledge transfer process, but they also had the opportunity to enhance their skills in creating digital art illustrations with refined storytelling in a professional platform and environment.
