Diplomacy in Action: The Rise of IRGA

The International Relations and Global Affairs (IRGA) major at Mahidol University International College (MUIC) has seen a surge in enrollment during Academic Year 2024-2025, reflecting students’ growing interest in global issues, diplomacy, and international cooperation in a world facing urgent challenges.

IRGA stands out for its dynamic, student-centered learning environment—where classrooms extend far beyond campus walls. Students engage in debates, simulations, and conferences, while also attending lectures from diplomats and experts and visiting authorities from leading international and national institutions such as the United Nations and parliament.

Practical experience is central to the program. IRGA offers extensive internship opportunities with public and private organizations, providing real-world exposure to policy, development, and international business. Exchange programs with leading universities worldwide further enrich learning without delaying graduation.

The program also builds a strong sense of community through alumni networks, IRGA student clubs, and mentoring opportunities. Courses go beyond theory, emphasizing diplomacy, conflict resolution, sustainability, social issues, and practical skills that prepare students for the workplace.

Guided by a multinational faculty with expertise across diverse fields and regions, IRGA equips students to think critically, act globally, and make a lasting impact.

“IRGA is more than a degree—it’s a gateway to global citizenship and professional readiness.”

Dr. Deekana Tipchanta Kaiser
Program Director, IRGA
