The last activity of Mahidol University International College’s (MUIC) THM Club for the 2nd Trimester was a community based-tourism (CBT) event held on March 9, 2024 in Ayutthaya, the former capital of the Kingdom of Siam. The “Roaming Ayutthaya” activity brought 35 participants to two historic temples, a local market, and a museum where they watched a community art performance.

The one-day trip gave the participants a glimpse into the community based-tourism concept as implemented in Ayutthaya. The participants learned the value of Thai handicrafts and understood how arts and crafts generate income for the locals at the Art of the Kingdom Museum Koh Kerd, where traditional arts exhibitions are located. At the museum, participants were also brought to the “All About Khon,” a Thai mask dance theater. They were also taken on a guided tour of the ruins of ancient temples such as Wat Phra Si Sanphet and Wat Mongkhon Bophit as well as checking out the local market.

The club expressed its thanks to the participants for supporting the activity and promised more delightful events in the next trimester.
