The Communication Design Program (CDP) of Mahidol University International College (MUIC), along with the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra and the College of Music of Mahidol University, have been collaborating on a series of projects for the last two years involving the production of motion graphics for orchestra performances.

This year, the program included the fantastic opportunity to work on creating a series of motion graphics for the orchestra performance entitled, “The Planets” by Gustav Holst under the conductorship of Alfonso Scarano and with Bülent Evcil on flute. It was staged on September 7, 2024 at Prince Mahidol Hall.

For the period of one month, groups of CDP students were assigned to work on developing key graphics, assets, as well as animatic storyboards to produce the final version of motion clips for seven movements of the performances. The students' imaginations and interpretations of each musical movement were incorporated using the application of design tools, including AI, to help bring their imaginations to life as if the audiences are in outer space, as well as in the biosphere and actual environments on the planets.
