MUIC’s Science Society Club Brings Back Science Podcast

The Science Society Club of Mahidol University International College (MUIC) brought back in Term 1 of Academic Year 2022 - 2023 the most awaited and loved Science Podcast through the club’s YouTube Channel.

The club said, “We always wanted to make science easier to understand and more approachable for all. And through our podcasts we were able to break down the science behind various topics. The podcast episodes attracted a total of over 100 listeners collectively coming from many majors. We released a total of four episodes this term which were “Life, Invention and Impact of Alan Turing: The (Gay) Father of Computer Science,” “Your Brain on Caffeine,” “Dark Secret of Unsolved Crimes;” and lastly, “Mental Health Matters: Addressing Students’ Concerns.

Episode 1: “Life, Invention and Impact of Alan Turing: The (Gay) Father of Computer Science” This first episode, hosted by Suphawit Wongfu and Nawat Ngerncham, is about education, love, achievements, and research career of Alan Turing.

Episode 2: “Your Brain on Caffeine

This episode, hosted by Justin Copeland and Christopher Philips, is about caffeine, its history, and how it affects your body and brain after consuming caffeinated drinks.

Episode 3: “Dark Secret of Unsolved Crimes

This episode, hosted by Jessica Okorie and Napat Palivamich, presents the mind of murderers, a brief history of a famous serial killer, Giulia Tofana, and criminal profiling methods.

Episode 4: “Mental Health Matters: Addressing Students’ Concerns

The last podcast episode of this term was hosted by the club president, Shormeli Akter and guest speaker Khun Chatdanai Sornchai. This episode was the Q&A section of the club’s last activity for this term entitled “Mental Health Matters” in which Khun Chatdanai answered common questions of participants about mental health. Also, at the end of the podcast, available resources for students to seek help were provided.

MUIC Executives Attend MU’s 57th Anniversary Ceremony

The Mahidol University International College (MUIC) executive team led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yingyot Chiaravutthi, Associate Dean; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chanchai Phonthanukitithaworn, Associate Dean for Corporate Communication and Information Technology; and AjarnWimonsiri Hemtanon, Associate Dean for Student Affairs; accompanied by Prof. Dr. Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Vice President for Global Partnerships and University Council of Mahidol University, and a faculty member of the Social Science Division of MUIC, along with staff members, laid a royal Pan-Pum (a traditional floral arrangement) in front of the statue of His Royal Highness Prince Mahidol of Songkla as part of paying obeisance to him and also in observance of the 57th Anniversary of the Royal Bestowal of the University Name and the commemoration of Mahidol University’s 138th Anniversary, on March 2, 2026 at the Office of the President.
