Welcome, freshmen! We hope you’ll have a grand time studying in MUIC. However, just a friendly reminder: University life is very much different from high school life.

Freshmen need to do a lot of adjusting. To help ease the process, we have asked a few upperclassmen for some pieces of advice that they can offer to the newest students of MUIC.

Ms. Kantashar “Tasha” Siripowsuwankul

3rd Year, Majoring in International Relations and Global Affairs

  1. Participate in different activities. The first thing that freshmen should do is to shake off the fear of participating in student activities. Doing so would help you develop communication skills, gain more knowledge, and widen you social connections.
  2. Be open-minded. People come from different backgrounds and a university is like a big society. Be willing to understand the differences of the people you will meet. Academic-wise, it is good to be open to different ideas and approaches and accept suggestions from your professors and classmates.
  3. Be organized. It would greatly help you to survive university! In college, you are now responsible for your own work and your own deadlines and most of the professors would be really strict on the date of submissions. Being organized would help the students balance their life without compromising their mental health.

Mr. Natthapong “Dan” Kanawattanakul

3rd Year, Majoring in Finance

  1. Do your best. Participate fully in every class. Do your best in every task that is assigned to you. These will surely help your career in the future.
  2. Build skills and connections. Prepare for your future career by developing skills and building your network. Join student clubs where you’ll enjoy working with lots of people, build social connections and develop life-long friendships.
  3. Seek balance. Classroom learning should perfectly go along with extra-curricular activities. By balancing these two, every day of your university life would be productive and memorable.

Ms. Kannicha “Dream” Eksuwancharoen

4th Year, Majoring in International Business

  1. Spend more time on campus. There are lots of wonderful places to explore, nice people to meet, and interesting activities to join in MUIC. Four years as a university student seems to be a long time but it is actually short and you can choose how to spend it.
  2. Save your memories. Time flies so fast and sometimes we couldn't remember every little thing that has happened even though it is such a memorable moment of our life. Take photos. Keep a diary. Such mementos become even more valuable when you realize that you could never go back to that moment anymore.
  3. Get to know your classmates in major classes. It pays to get to know more your classmates in your major classes (once you’re enrolled in major classes, that is.). Getting along with them, even becoming friends with them, will make your life a lot easier as you reach your third and fourth years.
