Mahidol University International College’s (MUIC) Debate Club brought together passionate minds in its “Weekly Session” that ran from September 16 to November 26, 2024. Held at Room A225 on the 2nd Floor of Aditayathorn Building, the sessions provided a space for students to refine their debating skills and invigorate vibrant rhetorics.

Bustling with ardent discussions, the Debate Club’s “Weekly Sessions” offered a dynamic forum for students to challenge perspectives through vigorous discourse in an arena of wits and words, where ideas clashed and intellects thrived. Each session was a testament to the acute prowess of its participants, who skillfully articulated their arguments with precision and poise.

At the heart of the “Weekly Sessions” lay an unwavering commitment to inclusivity, where both seasoned debaters and newcomers were encouraged to participate. “This term was all about growing those connections and talents that we had met not long ago,” recounted Mr. Patsha Ha, coach and trainer of the club. “We had a massive recruitment push over the two terms and wanted to finally give many of our consistent attendees experiences in large tournaments outside of just debating against each other,” he said. This included fostering an environment of mutual respect through constructive dialogue where arguments were not merely spoken but were truly heard.

These exchanges spanned a myriad of topics, ranging from hypothetical dilemmas to contemporary global issues, encouraging debaters to refine their critical thinking abilities and navigate a broad spectrum of perspectives, promoting meaningful engagement. In doing so, debaters are consistently compelled to step beyond their boundary, explore the unfamiliar, stimulating both personal growth and intellectual resilience.

In the wake of a fruitful term, the Debate Club’s “Weekly Sessions” etched upon the participants an unforgettable experience, filled with the enriching delights of collaborative discourse. A retrospective look left a lasting impression—one of perseverance, community, and the interminable pursuit of intellectual prosperity.
